OUR MISSION

To empower and support people to be valued, contributing citizens in their communities.

South Vancouver Youth Centre envisions itself as a youth hub to support our youth to be valued and contributing citizens in their respective communities. Primarily an MCFD-referral based centre serving youth and families in the Vancouver area, we also offer walk-in group engagement programs and activities.

WHO WE ARE

As we are guided by our recognition of each individual’s need for happiness, self-respect, community and family participation, SVYC offers a variety of services for youth to reach their goals and become active members in their community.

Youth aged 12 – 24 can access the Resource Room on a drop-in basis from 9 am – 6:30 pm, Monday to Friday where they will find internet, computer and telephone access, assistance with résumé writing, help with finding housing, assistance in accessing educational services or other community services and information on other available supports. Youth workers are available to provide one-on-one assistance.

WHAT WE OFFER

The South Vancouver Youth Centre (SVYC) offers creative and flexible support services to youth living in Vancouver. Youth may be referred to our programming through the Ministry of Child and Family Development (MCFD) or receive services on a drop-in basis.

Using a combination of one-to-one outreach services and on-site group workshops, our Youth Workers can provide the necessary support to help youth achieve their goals, learn new skills and become more self-sufficient in their communities. Some defining elements of our services include:
• Individual one-to-one support
• Small group workshops
• On-site resources (computer access, recreational activities, sexual health & housing information, clothing donations, etc)
• Assistance with referrals or access to other community-based services
• Phone consultation & response for Transition to Adulthood clients
